The 5 Elements that Control our Success or Failure

Self- Management Structure:

The 5 Elements that Control our Success or Failure

Forgive yourself for what you didn’t know. African Proverb

When we go about your daily lives there is a sequence that happens that ends our day with successful fulfillment or regrets. If we are aware of this sequence it will ensure more control over our lives. This control will lessen failures in life’s journeys and give us the ability to live a more successful life.

Self-management is not up to chance or accident. It is influenced by what precedes our success or failures. Everything for the most part, happens because we mentally created it to happen, good or bad. “Most of what seems to happen to us, happens because of you-something YOU created, directed, influenced, or allowed to happen.” - DR. Shad Helmstetter

Here are 5 steps that influences our self-management decisions:

1.        Behavior

Behavior is our action. It is our movements that controls how we act out our days, weeks, months, and years, if it will end in success or failure. How we behave regarding our health, job, education, relationships, etc, shows how much we like or dislike those experiences. If we do not put much effort into making the best out of those situations, even when we want to and know how to, or we work our hardest for the best results, will determine how everything will work out. Why is it we do not do what we are supposed to, to better our life, even when we know how to? Why is it that we decide behaviors that is the least resistance even though we know that it is self-suppressing? The reason we do things that do not benefit us is because of our:

2.      Feelings

How we feel about something will always influence what we do and how well we do it. Every action we take is based on our emotions.  But what causes us to have the feelings which are so much a part of us? Did we get them by accident? What produces the way we feel about anything? Possibility? Nope. Our feelings are created, regulated, defined, or inspired by our:

3.      Attitudes

Our attitudes are the opinions on how we view our lives. We all basically have a combination of good and bad attitudes. What attitude that we have about any given subject will affect how we feel and act, which will determine if we will be successful or unsuccessful dealing with it. It is crucial to have a good attitude if we want to accomplish any goal. Without a good attitude any goal that we set for ourselves would seem unachievable. Where do we get our attitudes? We are not born with them. We get them from our:

4.      Beliefs

Our beliefs define our attitude, our feelings, and our actions which establishes our success and failures. Our beliefs are so powerful that it does not matter if it is true or false. It just matters that we believe. Our negative beliefs about ourselves are just as powerful as our positive beliefs. Whatever we believe about ourselves will affect our lives, even if it is false. We have multiple ideas about who we are. Our mind will act as if all our beliefs regarding ourselves are true. Where do we get theses thoughts and beliefs about ourselves? Do we come up with the beliefs on our own? Unfortunately, we receive these beliefs from our:

5.      Programming

We are programmed to believe and think in certain ways.  It begins the day we are born. We are conditioned by the people around us. We are also influenced by the outside world. These influences have created, welded, and reinforced what we believe about ourselves. What we have accepted from the influences has programmed a deep sequence of events that has led us to a successful or unsuccessful management of life.  It is our programming that establishes our beliefs, and the domino effect begins. In obvious development, what we believe determines our attitudes, our feelings, directs our behavior, and determines our success or failure in managing ourselves, our resources, and our futures.

1. Programming creates beliefs.
2. Beliefs create attitudes.
3. Attitudes create feelings.
 4. Feelings determine actions.
5. Actions create results.
